All About Natural Gas Energy

September 25th, 2009

With the whole world trying to change its ways by going green in the home and the workplace, it has recognized that a major step is to find good sources of clean energy that won’t create as much carbon emissions as fossil fuels is to switch to alternative sources. One such source is natural gas energy which is a popular clean energy that is making waves today.

What is natural gas energy?
Natural gases such as ethane, methane, butane, and propane, amongst others, are all sourced from the ground. The process that gas utilities undergo to make these gases available as an energy source to people is to remove everything in the natural gas except for the methane. After this, it becomes pure methane which can now be used as a clean energy in your home.

Why natural gas is a clean fuel
When you burn a fossil fuel, you burn different elements that create harmful chemicals that are released into the atmosphere. Fossil fuels, like coal or petrol, are complex chemicals that create high carbon emissions. With natural gas it has less harmful effects. Burning natural gases only create water and carbon dioxide which are less harmful to the environment and atmosphere. The good news is that in the United States alone, 23 percent of all energy being utilized is from supplies of natural gas. To date, the United States is also a major producer of natural gas in the entire world. Many of the U.S. electric power plants are mainly fueled and run using natural gas energy.

With the world trying to go green with all its efforts in energy sourcing and conservation, sources like solar energy and natural gas energy are becoming more popular options. As great renewable sources of clean energy, people know that solar power and natural gas energy will do less damage to the environment, which will better ensure our future.

About Solar Energy

September 20th, 2009

People have been looking for an alternative source of energy outside non-renewable fossil fuels, and they have found a great source in solar energy. Natural energy like solar energy is one source that has existed for decades but has taken many people a long time to consider or even adapt to, especially since fossil fuels are readily available. But this is one source that people should consider seriously now that fossil fuels are a major cause of pollution and high carbon emissions.

What is solar energy?
Solar energy is natural energy that is harnessed from the sun. Since the beginning of time, the sun has been a valuable source of energy for plants that are a source of food for everyone. This is a great energy source that has no carbon emissions and is a completely renewable and simple resource. The possibilities of solar energy are exciting and endless, which is why more and more people and companies look to solar energy to supply their energy needs.

How is solar energy harnessed?
Natural energy – solar energy – is harnessed from the sun via solar collectors. These solar collectors catch sunlight and change the sun’s short wavelengths into long wavelengths. These collectors then hold this energy (in the form of heat) which is stored in a solar energy vault. Then is it the work of solar panels to change these wavelengths of trapped energy into electricity that may be utilized by people to power up homes, equipment and machinery.

Because there is now a need for energy that is good for the environment, solar energy is one of the most ideal forms of energy, renewable and eco-friendly, that is now being used in many places. With the need for renewable and natural energy, solar energy is one of the best forms that come from the most available resource – the sun.

Promoting Green Technology

September 15th, 2009

More and more workplaces are starting to take an interest in going green and green living. With the boom in technology today, we are surrounded by a rich variety of technological tools to get things done more efficiently and effectively. We don’t realize that this same technology can be used as a solution to help us in our objectives of greener living. Here are some ways that you can use technology, and turn it into green technology that will help the environment:

Using Voice over IP to have Remote Meetings
Instead of flying or driving to different places to have face to face meetings in distant places, encourage employees and managers to use VoIP, Skype, and other great applications, that only need a good internet connection, to have a productive meeting. Instead of tiring out employees to have meetings outside the office, have them do teleconferences from the office to clients outside.

Take Advantage of Communication Gadgets
With the technological breakthroughs in communications, provide employees with communications gadgets that can keep them in constant contact with each other to increase productivity and to enable a better monitoring system. Teamwork can be better achieved if you keep communications of all forms open to all team members.

Maintaining Online Libraries and Databases
You will find that when you run an organization, at one point or another, you will need databases and libraries to store all your information. Instead of a physical library, create an online library of information so that employees don’t find themselves digging into physical files to look for data or printing information that they will end up throwing away later. Online information made available at least on the local network for your employees will save paper and time.

With these technologies, you will find that productivity will go up because of people doing work more efficiently due to open communications, available online searchable data, and teleconferencing. It is always important for all organizations to keep up with the times by practicing green living through green technology through the wise use of available technology.
